  • …love is in the details nancyelizabeth photography

I truly believe that it is the little things that matter most. The details of life are what we remember and what makes u who we are. If you step back we are all very much alike, but if you look closely you will find that we are all indeed unique and special. I love to capture the details in my sessions and this is an example of the that belief.

This is what tells the story.

    The details.

I have so much to post that is wait for it…wait for it…actually work related!! Did you faint?!  I know I have avoided it, I have denied it, I have even forgotten about it…but it is time to pay the piper, suck it up, do the right thing, stand tall and be brave, no wait, I don’t have to stand at all, just edit and post…and edit and post I will…promise! Unless I get distracted again by all that crafty-goodness in blog land, so really , no promises.

Remember you can always bypass our family stuff, the decorating saga and crafty goodness and go straight to photography by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking the category that interests you!

anyway…here is one shot of missH, a cutie that makes me smile from my head to my toes. I could go on and on about the virtues of marvelous missH, but must get to work! I will simply say she is amazing and I am blessed to know her and her mom, mamaE, thank you thank you thank you for your life-saving help with ALL those kids!! Were you as exhausted as I was?!?

missH…you leave me speechless and smiling ~ a pretty great way to be left, thanks!

     may you be blessed

    hidden love…

I’m baaaaack! Whhile I wasn’t really “gone” on some fancy vacation but rather gone from my computer, the best vacation there is, to be honest! I was busy enjoying the last minutes of summer with my kiddos and busy making/updating their scrapbooks with them…

and busy washing, ironing and sewing “love” into their school uniforms…

    yes sewing love, hidden love…

I started it when misterN went to kinder, never thinking that I would still be doing it 5 years later but alas I am, happily. When both kiddos looked at me with wide innocent eyes and hollered “yes” to my question of should I still sew in love? I willingly obliged and hid some other smiles among their uniforms as well. Wonder if they will have hidden love in their college cap and gown? I am thinking yes!

and busy making space for homework projects, good work boards, backpacks, Spanish bags, piano bags and positive notes…

and the accessory area for missE, not to be confused with her many jewelry boxes!

and much much more…this was just in between the fun!

     may you be blessed

    driving lesson…

I’m thinking 8 years of driving lessons and I may let her drive alone….may being the key word here.

    may you be blessed

had a moment to grab a few shots for mamaH of her youngest, missK

I am always a sucker for missing teeth!

    such a cutie…

missK and her broken arm and mischievous smile! love those eyes!

    may you be blessed

    before and after…

I have always wanted my kids to have a garden, be one with nature and see where food comes from because I never did. As a matter of fact, when I took my first plane ride (age13) to South Dakota in order to stay with my AuntR and UncleH on there bazillion-acre farm I was beyond speechless.

The story of me running to get my purse and proper sandals because my AuntR said she was going out to get potatoes and would I like to come? continues to haunt me today.

“YES, wait for me,” I hollered as I bolted into the house, not believing my luck that we were going “into town” today! “I’m comiiiiiiing, don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave,” I continued to shout as I quickly ran a brush through my hair while dashing back downstairs only to find my AuntR standing there with a grin. “Let’s go” she said and led me out the door and INTO THE GARDEN.

“What?!?! Aren’t we going to get potatoes?” I asked completely confused. “Of course we are, where do you think potatoes come?” from she questioned me like I was 3 instead of 13. “Vons, they come from Vons.” I replied proud to answer her silly question and quite ready to get into town. She responded by laughing and pointing to the dirt which we were now standing in, ” No, honey, they come from the ground.”

Stunned into bewildered silence I simply stood staring and waiting for the punchline. It never came.

I can still feel the disappointment today. No car ride to “town” no new lip gloss from Dell Rapids, just more dirt and now I had to actually dig in it so we could eat dinner tonight. I was not dressed for digging, I was dressed for shopping.

That was how I learned where potatoes come from and why I needed my kids to have a garden, some sort of a garden so they too could learn that potatoes do not actually come from Vons.

So, we made raised planter beds (and by we I mean “the mister”) and we cleared out the neglected rose garden (and by we I mean the kids) and we relocated a zillion rosebushes (and by “we” I mean… well you know)

and eventually we (and by we I mean me too!) finally got our garden!

    our garden “before”

    and “after”

“We” also learned that some plants give you one thing, like ONE ear of corn, seriously, one ear?!? who knew??

While others give you an abundance, hope everyone likes watermelon, cantaloupe and pumpkins.

    may you be blessed
