The young one here… MisterN… the one they make use the oldest camera with the worst lens.. the one that has to “stay back” and out of the way…

I am happy to do it though because I get to shoot andnow they let me take the older ones by myself.  I found this cool palce to shoot and my mom didn’t!

 See what I can get if they give me some room?!

I grabbed this picture while I was trying not to get stepped on by my mom.

Personally, I think I should be paid but mom says it is good practice and I am lucky to be along.  I say we are both right.

I’m back!

I am back shooting after our summer “adventure” with N and had the good fortune to have my first session back to be with a lovely friend and her two incredible kids.

Spending a couple hours with two very special kiddos felt like minutes… and their remarkable, loving, funny, gorgeous, kind mom was so energetic and patient that even though I know this about her I was still in awe of her mothering. I am hoping her goodness is contagious ~ as are my kids!

low resistance…

My resistance was low and I just couldn’t say “no” ~ not to kind MrsB…

So, although I am officially “not working” until April ~ this is what not working looks like!

(see, you wouldn’t resist these three either!)

It was last week with the torrential downpours here in SoCal and the grace of God was with us because the rain stopped and the clouds parted for and hour and this is the magic that ensued… loved loved loved the light and the wonderful attitude of these three kiddos… it was all a surprise for their mom. I’m guessing she was shocked and even more than thrilled with her BFF MrsB for making this surprise happen (great friend or what!?!). The kids were such great sports as I kept saying “one more, almost done.. ohhh look at the light over there, can we do one more?!”

Thanks for the uplifting afternoon and I can’t wait to see if you made mom cry!

studio closing until April…

Yup.. it’s time

Studio closing February-April…

We have a few May and June openings if you are thinking of booking, now would be the time to grab those.

We usually close down shop Dec-Feb but we worked late this year and will be closing the studio from February - May … time to catch up on all the behind the scene studio details, camera updates, computer updates, what’s new in photography updates, etc… you would be surprised at how much of my time is NOT shooting, like MOST of it! The business side is the most consuming and all-encompassing part of the studio and thus the shut-down. That and I just plain old need to get out and shoot for me and for art and to rejuvenate myself!

That being said, we will try and update with a post or two just to keep things going…

since a post is better with a picture…

like a summer breeze…

These kiddos are like a summer breeze in the middle of the Sahara… just what you need… or at least what I needed!

I was thrilled to spend some time with them and must admit that these images are chosen willy-nilly because there isn’t a bad one in the bunch and they all made me smile, take a breath and just enjoy what is my life… some kids just do that to you…

frog legs and fairy wings

Decked out in frog legs and fairy wings she danced down the hall to her room…

it was our “last last last night to honestly read” It’s Hard to be Five and our “very last last  night” to make our five jokes and rhymes … because the next time she wakes up in her frog legs and fairy wings she will be

SIX years old…

yes.. this is what she wore to bed … somehow wings don’t bother a real angel it seems

I have  to remember she helps me blog and  makeup or not she will insist (rightly so) that this picture does “show the story” and must be included

sheesh, why did I ever teach her to read and write and for that matter, when did I give her permission to grow up?

oh, maybe that is really my sister reading to her… yeah, she lightened her hair, that’s her, my sister with no makeup and messy hair!!  sorry J but the people want the truth!!

 

anyway.. enough about my sister and her poor nightly grooming habits!!! (anyone want to bet she leaves me a comment now!?! I am so busted!)

going on now…

in our house, we decorate the birthday person’s door while they sleep… the signs usually stay on the back of the door all year.. I think she has four and five still stuck back there

yes, she thinks she is funny… “how old are you?” I ask and…

up come seven fingers, then ten, or nine, later she does twenty with the help of her toes

the grin is because she is off to get her very special present… the one she would be “deeply saddened if I have to wait until I am seven to get”

well… I don’t believe I could bear a year of “deeply saddened six year old” so off to adopt her first furry pet!

it seems that fish and crabs are “not a real pet” because they have no dander,  fleas, I mean fur…

I gotta admit, I love these rabbits.

They act like dogs, especially this one, he comes right up and will get on his hind legs and beg for a treat!

 

I wasn’t sure how allergic I would be but then I remembered my rabbit jacket that my mom bought me as a kid and well, I figured why not

although now that I mention it …

I do believe that part of the story is “going to deeply sadden her”  better save it for next year.. or the year after NEVER!!

Since she is off at school now, I am betting that she will never read this far… I’ll let you know if she does
